Mediation Fees

Domestic Relations (Divorce)

  • $125/hour per party, 2-hour minimum

(Mediations that are supported with Colorado state funding through the Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) are subject to a $15/hour co-payment)

County & District Court Civil Cases (Small claims, contract disputes, landlord-tenant issues, etc.)

  • $125/hour per party

In-PERSON Cases outside Chaffee County

  • For in-person cases outside Chaffee County, mileage is charged at the Federal-approved rate of 65.5¢ per mile (2023). Some exceptions apply for clients who qualify for ODR financial support.

CONSULTATION

  • Often, clients or prospective clients require some degree of consultation prior to a mediation. This generally occurs in the initial phone conversation between the mediator and client, and can be essential in providing general information about mediation, obtaining contact information for the other party, acquiring details about the case, etc. I am happy to provide such consultation free of charge for up to 15 minutes. Since these conversations often extend beyond 15 minutes, I do ask that clients pay a minimum fee of $25/each additional fifteen minutes of consultation.

Low Income Assistance Programs

  • The Colorado Judicial Branch’s Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) has several programs that can reduce the cost of mediation. To obtain information and application forms, please visit the court, contact me, or download the forms here.

  • Please apply early to assure that the court has adequate time to consider your application. Also, be sure to include current income verification such as copies of recent pay stubs or last year’s W-2 tax forms with your application.

  • ODR-approved cases still require that parties pay an out-of-pocket fee of $15/hour for mediation. Also, ODR mediations are limited to maximum of four hours.

  • In certain situations, when ODR financial assistance is not available, special payment arrangements can be made. This is offered strictly on a limited, case-by-case basis and is negotiated directly between the mediator and the client.

COMPLEX CASES

  • Cases with multiple parties and issues involving extensive preparation and/or research are negotiated on a case-by-case basis between the mediator and the client(s).
